CLAUDIA MARTINEZ RUNNING TO WASHINGTON, D.C.!
"The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step."
Lao Tzu **************************************** My journey is not quite a thousand miles but it is 26.2 miles to be exact. On October 27, 2002 I will be running in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. I took my first step on May 19th, 2002 when I signed up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. On that rainy day I made a commitment to myself that I would train and complete the marathon, as well as raise $3400 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fund research, patient aid, community service and public and professional education. My honored teammate is Celimo Peña, who I had the pleasure of meeting at one of my group trainings. He is forty-six years old and has Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. He had a bone marrow transplant two years ago and is currently in remission and I would like to help him stay in remission, as well as, help all of those suffering from Leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma, but I need your help. Please take your own first step and send in your contribution to help all of those afflicted with one of these blood-related cancers. **************************************** "In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." Theodore Roosevelt Thanks for visiting and I hope to hear from you soon! |
